Youri Tielemans still not interested in extending Leicester stay

Youri Tielemans is continuing to knock back Leicester's attempts to tie him down to a new contract.

90min revealed in October that Tielemans had rejected Leicester's offer of a new deal amid interest from some of the Premier League's biggest clubs, and his stance has not wavered after the club's uninspiring first half of the season.

The 24-year-old and his representatives have again told Leicester they are not ready to commit long-term, 90min can confirm, and with his current deal expiring in less than 18 months, the Foxes have a big decision to make this summer.

Leicester's hierarchy have started to accept that they may have to sell one of their prized assets, although sources have told 90min that manager Brendan Rodgers, who is desperate to keep hold of Tielemans, hopes a big summer of spending could convince him to stay. As it stands, that looks unlikely.

Tielemans is not short of interest, with as many as five Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on his situation. Manchester United are long-term admirers of the Belgian, while Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham and Newcastle are also keen.

There is significant interest on the continent, too, with Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla among those interested in a transfer.

But having signed Tielemans from Monaco for around £32m two-and-a-half years ago, Leicester will not allow him to leave on the cheap, and could ask for as much £40m despite the limited time remaining on his contract.
