Coach Yusif Basigi has hailed the Black Queens for securing qualification to the 2014 African Women’s Championship.

The Ghanaians thrashed their Ethiopian side 3-0 in the reverse fixture to complete an incredible 5-0 aggregate win.

Goals from Faiza Ibrahim, Elizabeth Cudjoe and Hillia Kobbla wrapped up a beautiful afternoon in Tamale on Sunday.

Coach Basigi, who doubles as the head trainer for Premier League side Hasaacas, has heaped praise on his charges.

“The ladies deserve commendation. They have done extremely well and we’re very happy that we have qualify,” he said

“It’s a pretty good feeling leading this side to the African Championship. I am very excited and want to take this opportunity to thank everybody.

“We have to pause and enjoy the moment but the real work is about to start as we gear up towards the Championship proper.

“But I am confident we’ll get there.”

The Black Queens are returning to the championship after missing out in the last edition held two years ago in Equatorial Guinea.

The 2014 African Women’s Championship will be hosted by Namibia.

The tournament will also be used as the qualifying platform for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
