Arsenal will be without their English playmaker Emile Smith Rowe as the 22 years old is out of their FA Cup clash due to injury.
In a blow to Arsenal’s squad, young forward Emile Smith Rowe has suffered a setback in his recovery from injury and will not be available for the upcoming match against Manchester City. The 22-year-old has had a frustrating season thus far, limited to just seven substitute appearances across all competitions. Smith Rowe’s campaign was further hindered when he lost his starting spot to Gabriel Martinelli and was forced to undergo surgery for an aggravated groin injury in September.
Although he made his return to the pitch in a match against Oxford United earlier this month, Smith Rowe has now suffered a new injury, unrelated to his previous one.
The Evening Standard reports that he has been left behind in London as a precautionary measure. The Gunners will also be without midfielder Mohamed Elneny, who is feared to be out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
It remains to be seen how this will impact Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s lineup choices for the match against Manchester City, but he is well aware that he will be facing off against one of the strongest teams in the world, regardless of the opposition’s selection.
