Benfica boss Roger Schmidt has opened up on Benfica’s plan B in case of Enzo Fernandez’s exit.
The Argentina international has been recently linked with the move to Chelsea for the January transfer window.
Blues’ first bid for the player had been rejected, with Benfica asking for a release clause worth €120m.
Chelsea have now made another bid close to the fee that the Portuguese side demand for their player. The next few hours will be decisive for Fernandez’s future.
Amid the latest reports, Schmidt was asked about the club’s plans for the future in case of losing their star, to which he replied:
“I think we always have to prepare everything in the background, especially at the end of the transfer window, especially when you’re not in the driver seat.”
