Erik ten Hag was candid about Manchester United’s first-half performance as his team defeated Leicester 3-0 at Old Trafford.

Throughout the first half, David De Gea was kept on his toes with a series of excellent saves to keep the score low.

The home side eventually found their groove, with Marcus Rashford continuing his hot streak with a first-half strike to open the scoring.

Man United faced 11 shots in the first half and were fortunate not to concede after Brendan Rodgers’ side created a number of good chances.

United easily won the game in the second half, but Ten Hag delivered a harsh assessment of his team’s performance in his post-game interview.

“We are pleased with the outcome; it is excellent. When you play every third day, you can’t always put on the same show. “Today was extremely difficult,” Ten Hag told Sky Sports.

“In the first half, Leicester played brilliantly, while we were dreadful due to our lack of discipline. We had issues, and we only had a clean sheet at halftime thanks to David de Gea.

“Luckily we had half-time, we could repair some things and the second half was brilliant. It was a lot of fun to watch how we created so many chances and scored such great goals.”

Rashford is the talk of the town right now, but ten Hag was quick to praise the rest of the team for their efforts as well.

“He’s moving up the ranks, but don’t forget about the team,” ten Hag added. “I’d like to highlight Bruno once more. Two excellent assists. There are so many players who can pass the ball to him [Rashford] at the right time, such as Bruno, Jadon, and Fred.”

When asked on Jadon Sancho, he added: “He is in the right direction. He doesn’t know his limits and has a lot of room for improvement, even though he’s already at a high level.”

United are now five points behind Arsenal, and some experts are already predicting their chances in the title race.

“We don’t think about the championship,” Ten Hag added. “We’re thinking about the next game, which is Thursday. We must fight, our fans must fight to make Old Trafford a fortress, and the game plan must be correct.”

Man United’s next match is the second leg of their Europa League tie against Barcelona, followed by the EFL Cup final against Newcastle at Wembley.
