Bookmaker Ratings: Prediction One – Handicap (-1) for Karatsev – 1.83.
Bookmaker Ratings: Prediction Two – Total Games Under 24 – 1.64.
Basilashvili failed to finish his recent match against Gaston in Bastad due to health problems. So it is not really clear in what form Nikoloz is going to compete in Hamburg, where he has a good history of performances in general. We prefer Karatsev in this match, who looks like he’s starting to gain form.
The tennis players have met each other six times and in four of those six matches, they had short matches. We expect this match not to go beyond two sets.
Basilashvili had a poor performance in Bastad last week. However, this was not due to poor play, but to an injury which prevented him from completing the match against Hugo Gaston.
Nikoloz lost the first set on a tie-break and in the second set, he dropped the match when the score was 0-3.
At the recent Wimbledon, Basilashvili went two rounds before losing to Tim van Rijthoven (4-6, 3-6, 4-6).
Basilashvili has never won two matches in a row on the court this season. That said, it’s worth remembering that Nikoloz has won the Hamburg tournament twice – in the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Basilashvili has made it past the first round in seven of his last eight tournaments.
Karatsev, meanwhile, finally came to his senses. In Bastad, he managed to reach the quarter-finals.
For the first time since the Australian Open, Aslan won two matches in a row. With all the problems he had in the first half of the season, this is indeed an event.
Karatsev beat Lorenzo Sonego (6-0, 2-6, 6-4) and Hugo Gaston (6-2, 6-4) before losing to Francisco Cerundolo (5-7, 1-6).
Aslan had a very weak second set against Cerundolo, taking only one game.
Karatsev won only one of his seven matches on the court in the spring.
Karatsev has four straight defeats in Germany.
In 3 of Karatsev’s last 5 matches, less than 9.5 games have been played in the first set. We offer to bet on “1st Set Games – Under 9.5” with odds of 1.85.
Basilashvili has played the tie-break five times in his last five matches. We offer to bet on “Tie-Break – Yes” with odds of 2.40.
