Zaha and Wan-Bissaka have a big say in how Crystal Palace move forward

Published on: 04 July 2019

A lot of the summer transfer talk is going to be about the two players at Crystal Palace who can realistically play for almost any team. It is unarguable that Wan-Bissaka the best full back outside of the top six last season. It’s also unarguable that Zaha was the best player outside of the top six last season. Without these two players it is plausible that Crystal Palace would have been relegated. So, just how important is keeping them to Crystal Palace.

The first scenario: Keeping them

If Crystal Palace are confident that they can persuade both players that staying with them is the best move, then this is definitely the road they should take. If they are able to keep both of these players it will be easier for them to persuade players to come to them. This means that not only will they be able to keep their two best players, but they will also be more likely to bring in players of a similar quality to complement them. This is the least likely possibility as Zaha especially will feel that it is time for him to play for a team in the Champion’s League.

The second scenario: Selling them

 Should they move on?

Wan-Bissaka should be asking Zaha for advice when it comes to moving to a bigger club. Zaha has done it before, he moved to Manchester United before he was ready and it set his career back. The time is right for Zaha to move on, before he misses his chance to prove himself at the top level, but it might do Wan-Bissaka better to remain at Crystal Palace for another couple of years. Here he will be guaranteed play time and from there will have more chance of becoming one of the very best in his position.
