Zaza: Conte has taught me a lot in Italy squad

Juventus and Italy forward Simone Zaza says coach Antonio Conte has taught him a lot in the national team fold and will be saddened by his departure after the European Championship this summer.

The Bianconeri forward replaced Graziano Pelle on the hour-mark against Spain in midweek and was pleased with his cameo performance.

“I’m happy with my performance against Spain,” the forward told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Of course, we would have liked to find more space, but we are a solid and strong group.

“We are becoming more of a team.”

Zaza has played a prominent role in Conte’s side throughout qualification for the European Championship and the 24-year-old expressed his gratitude at the opportunities he has been afforded.

“I am sorry that the coach is leaving the national team, he has given me so much,” he added.

“When he called me up I had just into the Azzurri fray, I will always be grateful.”
