Zeman: Totti still has a lot to offer Roma

Published on: 23 February 2016

Former Roma coach Zdenek Zeman has come out in support of Giallorossi captain Francesco Totti, in light of the 39-year-old’s public dispute with Luciano Spalletti.

Despite his advancing years, Zeman believes Totti still has a lot to offer and should be utilised more as long as he himself feels capable of playing.

“Francesco Totti is Roma,” Zeman said to Corriere dello Sport. “It is impossible for anyone else to give what he gave to that club in his time there. He gave them everything.

“As long as he is there, he obviously feels as though he can compete and he is at the same level as his team-mates.

“It bothers me that we are even having this conversation. For me, Francesco is not finished.”

The 68-year-old enjoyed two spells in charge at the Stadio Olimpico. His first came from 1997-99 before returning for what would be an unsuccessful stint in the 2012-13 campaign.
