Zidane 'keeps same groups in Madrid training' despite loosening of restrictions

Published on: 25 May 2020

Real Madrid returned to training on Monday after having the day off on Sunday and Zinedine Zidane opted on the side of caution by sticking with the same groups as last week.

It is now permissible to have groups of up to 14 players after the Community of Madrid entered Phase 1 of Spain's de-escalation process, but the Frenchman has kept the same three groups.

Training started with stretching exercises and continuous running before moving on to individual control and passing tasks.

Ball exercises followed in groups, and the session ended with shots at goal.

Mariano Diaz and Luka Jovic are still not training with the group as they continue their recoveries from their respective injuries.

Therefore, Karim Benzema is the only No.9 available at present and it seems clear that the two strikers will need more time to return to the group as they have not trained for two weeks now.
