Novak Djokovic’s coach Goran Ivanisevic has assessed the chances of competing at the US Open.

I don’t know about the US Open, it’s complicated. I’d rather be given a wild card and win a tournament in Umag than be allowed to the US Open. The US is closed to the unvaccinated, he can’t enter the country now. And there’s no problem with the tournament itself.

Ivanisevic also commented on how the year as a whole is going for the Wimbledon champion.

This year is disastrous, very bad and difficult. And ATP’s decision to take points away from Wimbledon is, in my opinion, completely insane and wrong. But it’s an important win for him, he needed it, he showed he’s the best player on grass for sure. Victory is most needed in the toughest moments. In that moment he showed his best tennis.
