Manchester United have qualified for the Carabao Cup fourth round after they beat Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

Man United had to come from an early second half breakthrough to beat Villa 4-2 at the Theatre of Dreams.

Ollie Watkins got on the end of what was an obviously rapid counter-attack and beat Manchester United goalie, Dubravka with a decent effort.

Some seconds later, Anthony Martial pulled level after getting on the end of Bruno Fernandes’ low cross.

The visitors took the lead midway through the second half when Diogo Dalot scored at the wrong net during his attempt to clear off Leon Bailey’s header.

Marcus Rashford was called into action to put his team back on track when he proved too strong inside Aston Villa’s penalty box and fired home past Olsen.

Manchester United took total control of the game and scored their third goal after Bruno Fernandes beat Olsen from a close range.

In the injury time, Scott McTominay scored United’s fourth and last goal and he stretched to get on Alejandro Garnacho’s sublime cross.

Before his goal, the Scottish midfielder was denied from a close range by the crossbar.

Manchester United were the better side, although their performance improved following Erik ten Hag’s tactical changes halfway through the second half.

The Red Devils are through to the fourth round and will know their next opponents in the coming hours.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea all crashed out of the competition on Wednesday night.
