Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes starts for Portugal against Ghana as well as his former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo in their Qatar World Cup opener.

Portugal will look to avoid the rough starts to the World Cup the likes of Germany and Argentina endured when they face Ghana as the favourites.

Fernandes’ club team-mate Diogo Dalot starts on the bench because Fernando Santos doesn’t think he’s good enough to be in the starting lineup.

Manchester City forward Bernado Silva also started for the Portuguese side as well as his club’s team-mate Ruben Dias.

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey started for Ghana. Leicester City’s defender Amartey and Crystal Palace forward Andrew Ayew are also starting for the Ghananians.
