Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly interested in Kalvin Phillips, and they are set to compete with Juventus for his signature.

Tottenham Hotspur has emerged as a club of interest in the pursuit of talented midfielder Kalvin Phillips. Recent reports from Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness, suggest that Spurs are ready to compete with Juventus for the signature of the 27-year-old player.

Phillips, who currently plies his trade at Manchester City, has found it challenging to secure regular playing time with the club, prompting him to consider his options.

The English midfielder made the move to Manchester City in the summer of 2022 after impressing in the Premier League while representing Leeds United. His arrival was expected to provide a significant boost to City’s midfield, but he has faced limited opportunities since joining the club.

City was open to the idea of letting Phillips leave in the summer transfer window, but he was determined to fight for his place in the starting lineup. Despite his eagerness to establish himself as a key player under Pep Guardiola, he has not been able to secure a prominent role in the team.

As a result, Phillips has expressed his desire to part ways with Manchester City. His decision is motivated by the need to prepare adequately for Euro 2024, where he is set to be a vital part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

This development has not gone unnoticed by Juventus, who view Phillips as a potential solution to their midfield concerns. The Italian giants are currently grappling with the absence of key players, including Paul Pogba, who is facing a suspension due to doping allegations, and Nicolò Fagioli, who has received a seven-month ban for involvement in illegal betting.

With these setbacks in mind, Juventus is eyeing Phillips as a possible addition to bolster their midfield ranks. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur is also keen on securing the services of the 27-year-old midfielder. The North London club faces its own challenges, with Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma soon departing to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations, leaving them with a midfield gap to fill.
