What Cody Gakpo said when asked about his future in January amid Man United speculation
The Netherlands international Cody Gakpo failed to rule himself out of a possible winter exit when he was asked if he’s keen on leaving PSV next year.
Manchester United are seriously interested in signing Gakpo from PSV and according to several reports, Erik ten Hag has reportedly identified the PSV star as his top priority.
Following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, many outlets are suggesting that the former Ajax manager is keen on signing his replacement and Gakpo is highly rated by the Dutchman.
The 23-year-old is currently participating in the ongoing 2022 Qatar World Cup and has scored two goals in his two games against Senegal and Ecuador, hence reminding his suitors what they are missing.
Although the attacking midfielder said he’s only focused on the World Cup, the Dutchman also didn’t rule himself out of a potential exit in January.
Speaking about his future, he said: “Right now I’m busy with the Dutch team. I’ll see what happens in the winter. In football, anything is possible.”
Gakpo has scored nine goals and provided 12 assists in 14 Eredivisie matches and has registered three goals and two assists in five Europa League games this season so far.
The attacking midfielder is expected to command at least £50million from his suitors.
