Friday’s Championship match sees two in-form sides come together as Brighton & Hove Albion take on Leeds United.

Brighton are currently on a fantastic run, sitting second in the league, and they are yet to lose a Championship match since mid-September – the only team to do so. After last season’s heartbreak, promotion is most certainly on the cards this time around.

The Seagulls’ defence has been the bedrock of their success this year and Chris Hughton’s team have conceded just 11 goals in 19 matches – the best in the entire Football League pyramid.

Form at their home ground of the AMEX has been good with three wins in their last four games including two clean sheets.

In forward Glen Murray they have a well-renowned Championship goalscorer and the 33-year-old is currently the second top scorer in the league with 11 goals. Additionally, the former Crystal Palace man is certainly more comfortable at home with all of his goals coming at the AMEX and he has only failed to find the back of the net on home turf in three out of 10 matches this season. However, this will be no walkover for Brighton as they face a Leeds side in good form themselves.

Garry Monk’s team are currently in fourth spot and look like they will be in and around the play-off places come May 2017. This lofty position is the outcome of an excellent run of results which has seen The Whites win five of their last six league matches.

Just like Friday’s opponents Brighton, Leeds have been solid at the back this campaign with just 20 goals shipped in 19 matches.

Up until the last three away matches – from which Leeds have emerged victorious – the Yorkshire side’s record away from Elland Road was very much a mixed bag as one week they would win but then they would fail to follow it up next time out. However, it certainly seems that they have now found a formula that works on the road. Having said that, Brighton are a very tough side to get the better of and I think the hosts should have enough about them to pull off a victory on Friday.

Chris Hughton’s men look like they have the nous in how to deal with tough Championship games and that is the reason why they look so solid. The Seagulls have already shown their capabilities against good opposition this season with victories over Leeds’ play-off rivals Sheffield Wednesday as well as their recent 5-0 thrashing of recently-relegated Norwich City. Given their record, the odds on a home win are better than they probably should be at 10/11 and they are worth backing to make it four wins in five home matches.

I mentioned Glen Murray earlier and the sparkling form he is in, particularly at home. With this in mind, the forward is certainly worth getting behind here to find the net.

I cannot envisage a Brighton home match where Glen Murray doesn’t score. He is certainly high on confidence at the moment (which strikers of course thrive on) and has netted five goals in his last three home matches. ‘Brighton to Win & Glen Murray to Score Anytime’, at the great price of 5/2, is another bet to go for.
