Bookmaker Ratings Prediction One: Match outcome: Brighton to win — 2.69
Bookmaker Ratings Prediction Two: Total goals: over 2.5 — 1.66
Bookmaker Ratings Prediction Three: Both teams to score: YES — 1.54
The Seagulls are described by many as giant-killers. They knocked Arsenal out of the Carabao Cup. They beat Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United in the Premier League. Liverpool are struggling currently due to a number of injured players, hence I’ve backed Brighton to win.
Brighton and Liverpool had met earlier this month in the Premier League and Brighton won 3-0. Both teams are good goalscoring sides, hence I expect this game to end with over 2.5 goals.
Liverpool have struggled to keep clean sheets this season due to injury issues. Although they kept a clean sheet against Wolves last time out, the Reds have conceded at least one goal in the majority of games they’ve played this season, hence I have backed this game to end with both teams scoring.
The Seagulls have won three and drawn one of their last four matches across all competitions including the 3-0 win over Liverpool in the Premier League. Brighton won Middlesbrough 4-1 away from home in the FA Cup third round.
The Reds have won just once in their last four matches across all competitions. They played a goalless draw against Chelsea at Anfield last time out in the Premier League. They reached the FA Cup fourth round after they beat Wolves 1-0 at the Molineux Stadium in the third round replay.
Whilst Liverpool are without some of their key players, the Reds still have some top players who can single-handedly beat Brighton. However, facing Brighton away from home is tough, hence I expect the home side to avoid a defeat.
The last time both teams met, Brighton won and kept a clean sheet. However, I think Liverpool would get on the scoreboard but I don’t think they would do more than that.
Because both teams are good going forward, I believe anticipating two goals from this game wouldn’t be a stretch.
