Cardiff City v Blackburn Rovers Betting Tip

These two former Premier League sides have not made the best start to their Championship season this year and will be looking to put that right on Wednesday night.

Cardiff looked impressive in the first half against Birmingham on the opening weekend of the season but dropped off in the second half and all has been downhill since then. They lost to League One Bristol Rovers in the League Cup before succumbing to a 2-0 home defeat by Queens Park Rangers.

Paul Trollope has moved from assistant to top dog at Cardiff this summer and it will be interesting to see whether this very well respected coach can take Cardiff back towards the top of the table this season.

A slight concern for Bluebirds fans will be that the club has so far failed to spend a single penny during this summer transfer window. However, they have the basis of a decent squad at the Cardiff City Stadium so do not require a complete overhaul.

Blackburn Rovers have made a dreadful start to the campaign and all the pre-season optimism at Ewood Park has suddenly fallen flat on its face. They have lost their first two Championship games 4-1 and 3-0, defence is certainly the problem for Owen Coyle’s side.

Like Cardiff, Rovers have also not spent a single penny in this window, however, they have signed Danny Graham and Anthony Stokes on free transfers which could be seen as good business. Their woeful defensive record is largely down to the loss of Grant Hanley to promotion chasing Newcastle United. Without him there seem to be gaping holes in the Blackburn backline.

The Welsh side will be eager to notch their first home win of the season and will feel they have a good chance against a Blackburn side in worryingly bad early form. There is a profit to be made on a Cardiff win, albeit a small one, at 21/20.
