After that, Kasatkina decided that normal training would not be enough for her before the US Open.

Kasatkina’s failure at the two major tournaments came as a surprise after her classy win in San Jose, where she managed to beat Elena Rybakina, Aryna Sabalenka and Paula Badosa.

Kasatkina reached the third round in New York last year.
