A podium in 2022 would be a success, McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo stated.

Riccardo does not expect to compete for victory this season.

I’m a realist – there are no serious signs of that this year. But hardly anyone predicted I would win a race last season. That’s great: things like this remind me that anything is possible, even more so in our sport.

The higher I get, the happier I am with the result. I’m just trying to perform consistently at a high level, especially with the new car. In this respect, I’m not achieving what I expect from myself – to be in the top 6 every weekend and to have as few bad stages as possible.

Eliminating them is my main goal. And, of course, to be on the podium again. At this point, it’s not even necessary to win. To get back on the podium in the next few months would be great, Riccardo said.

In 2022, Daniel was only three times in the top 10 at the Grand Prix, his best result was sixth place in Australia. His team-mate Lando Norris was the only non-Big Three driver to score a podium.
