Chelsea Remains Interested in Premier League Talent Despite New Contract Signing
Chelsea FC continues to look for solutions to their striking crisis, with recent reports suggesting that they remain interested in Brighton & Hove Albion’s 18-year-old Irish striker, Evan Ferguson.
Despite having just signed a new eight-year contract with his current club, Ferguson is said to be on Chelsea’s radar this summer, as per reports from the reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Ferguson has been in impressive form for Brighton, registering four goals and two assists in the league, making him a highly sought-after prospect for top clubs across Europe.
While Brighton would have hoped that the new contract would put off any potential suitors, it seems that Chelsea, Manchester United and several other top teams remain interested in the young striker.
Romano notes that Ferguson’s impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, and it is normal for many clubs to be following his progress closely. However, Brighton have been praised for their smart and swift action in extending the player’s contract to keep him at the club.
Romano said: “Clubs were monitoring Ferguson, of course, he’s a super young talent and it’s normal to follow his steps; this will continue not just with Manchester United or Chelsea but with many clubs.
“But Brighton have been smart and fast, excellent again to extend the contract and keep the player at the club.”
Should Ferguson choose to make a move to Stamford Bridge, he would undoubtedly be a valuable addition to the Chelsea squad, and could provide the much-needed firepower that they have been lacking in the current season.
