Shareef is the son of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq previously commented on the 22-year-old basketball player, “I raised Yannis with a shot.”  Shareef was not selected in the recent NBA draft. Shareef missed the 2018/19 season due to heart surgery. He played the last two years for Louisiana State in the NCAA.  The forward played four games in the NBA Summer League for the Lakers, averaging 4.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in 11.5 minutes on the court.
