Portugal heads into the Qatar World Cup in high spirt after their last international friendly game ended in a huge 4-0 win over Nigeria.

Portugal beat Nigeria 4-0 at Estadio Jose Alvalade in an international friendly game to ensure they begin their Qatar World Cup in high spirit.

The Portuguese side was without Cristiano Ronaldo in the squad due to an illness but his absence didn’t prevent them from thrashing the Super Eagles.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring early in the game when he got to the end of Diogo Dalot’s pass inside the penalty box.

Midway through the first half, the Manchester United midfielder scored his double and Portugal’s second goal of the night from the penalty spot.

Fernando Santos substituted the Man United midfielder at the break to ensure the prolific midfielder remains fit for the World Cup.

Portugal scored two late goals to leave Nigeria, who tried to get back into the game, in disappointment, although it was only an international friendly game.

Goncalo Ramos and Joao Mario scored the 3rd and 4th goals in the dying minutes of the game.

Portugal will kick off their World Cup with a game against Ghana on November 24.
