2015 AFCON: Hosts Morocco want tournament postponed due to deadly Ebola epidemic
CAF are being asked to postpone 2015 AFCON

2015 AFCON hosts Morocco, is asking the Confederation of African Football, CAF, to postpone the tournament due to the deadly Ebola epidemic, according to the BBC.

The biennial competition is scheduled to be held between 17 January and 8 February 2015 and qualifiers are already underway across the continent over the weekend.

The request to delay the event has been lodged with organisers Confederation of African Football (CAF).

More than 4,000 people have died in the Ebola epidemic that broke out in west Africa at the start of the year.

The Morocco health ministry made the plea in the wake of their decision "to avoid events which involve those countries affected by the Ebola virus."

Ghana's Black Stars are in the Moroccan city of Casablanca where they are playing Guinea in a Group E game. Guinea who are the home side for the game were asked by CAF to shift venue to the North African country due to Ebola.
