2020/21 Ghana Premier League: Week 3 Match Preview - Asante Kotoko vs Great Olympics

Published on: 17 December 2020

Asante Kotoko beat Legon Cities to end their winless start to the season and will be eyeing another victory when they welcome Great Olympics to the Accra Sports Stadium.

The matchday 3 encounter was initially scheduled to come off last month but was rescheduled to Thursday because Kotoko were at time busy with continental assignment.

Kotoko’s 1-0 win over Legon Cities was their first of the season and although their second-half performance was below par, they were excited to end their run of poor results.

Prior to Legon clash, they had played two matches and recorded no wins. In both games, they took the lead and allowed the opponents to equalise. The same thing would have happened if Legon converted their chances.

The Porcupine Warriors have the tendency of starting a game well and when they get their reward by scoring, they take their foot off the pedal.

They cannot afford to replicate that against Great Olympics, a side not shy of scoring goals when they get the chances. In three games, they have scored four goals. Three of those goals came in one game against Legon in Accra.

In their last match (2-0 defeat against Liberty), Olympics failed to score but they can be forgiven because they played 45 minutes with 10 men.

Kotoko are favourites, judging by the results in the last games but they need to be perfect to avoid losing.

In the last 10 meetings, Kotoko have been the best side with four wins, four draws and two defeats.

Prediction: Asante Kotoko 1-1 Great Olympics
