2021/22 Ghana Premier League: Week 3 Match Preview - King Faisal Babes vs. AshantiGold

Published on: 13 November 2021

King Faisal Babes have a perfect record since the start of the season having won against WAFA SC at home and Aduana Stars at away.

The 'Insha Allah' Boys are currently placed 2nd on the league standings with an 100% record after two rounds.

Faisal will be seeking to keep the momentum when they tackle AshantiGold SC in a regional derby on Sunday at the Babayara Stadium.

There is no better boost of confidence than coming into this game after a 3-1 victory over Aduana in Dormaa Ahenkro.

On loan Ibrahim Osman has been lethal for the Green and Whites so far and he is expected to lead Faisal again on the weekend.

Osman provided the assist in the opening day 1-0 win and also scored twice in their massive 3-1 away win over Aduana.

Nurudeen Amadu will have a full squad available for selection for Sunday's Ashanti derby with Yakubu Wadudu set for his first start at home this campaign.

AshantiGold are also unbeaten ahead of the two-hour trip to Kumasi to Faisal in the Ashanti derby in a matchday three fixture on Sunday.

The Miners failed to beat Karela United FC last week at home in a very disappointing stalemate.

AshantiGold came from behind with a spot kick to draw 1-1 with Karela and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways with a victory over Faisal.

The Miner's last visit to Kumasi to face Faisal saw them prevail with a 1-0 win through Appiah McCarthy who scored a brilliant free-kick.

Unfortunately McCarthy isn't available for Sunday's match since he is nursing an injury.

Central defender Ampem Dacosta is expected to return to full fitness for the crucial duel at the Babayara Stadium. He picked up an injury last week against Karela.

Ernest Thompson Quartey is expected to make changes to squad with the aim of getting a second away of the season.
