2021/22 Ghana Premier League: Week 4 Match Report - Berekum Chelsea 1-0 King Faisal Babes

Berekum Chelsea recorded their very first victory of the Ghana Premier League season on Friday afternoon after beating in-form King Faisal Babes.

Chelsea earned a vital 1-0 win at the Golden City Park in Berekum to end Faisal's nine-match unbeaten streak.

The Bibires were the last team to beat Faisal in the premiership in June this year and have been the first to stop the Kumasi based club this campaign.

Faisal head coach Nurudeen Amadu made just alteration to the team that beat AshantiGold 2-0 last week in the Ashanti derby at the Babayara Stadium in Kumasi.

Wadudu Yakubu came back to the starting lineup in place of Evans Sarfo.

Mawuli Wayo with his amazing performance last week earned him a starting place again on Friday against Chelsea.

With the hosts making early incursions in the match, they came close to breaking the deadlock in the 16th minute but Bright Amponsah's header missed the posts by an inch.

Goalkeeper Frank Boateng came to the rescue of the visitors few minutes later a save to deny Collins Ameyaw's effort.

Chelsea finally got the breakthrough in the 35th minute through Attah Agyei whose curled shot beat goalkeeper Boateng.

The second half was a bit balanced with both teams creating fewer number of goalscoring chances.

Chelsea goalie Obeng Sekyere produced a spectacular save in the 87th minute to prevent Abdul Latif's shot from the edge of the box.

It's a good start for new coach Cofie who took over Chelsea few days ago after replacing Abdul Hanan Abu.
