Black Queens and Hasaacas Ladies captain Janet Egyiri has called for early preparations ahead of the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria.

The Black Queens were handed a tough opposition in the first round of the qualifiers in the draw held on Monday at the CAF headquarters in Cairo.

Janet Egyiri is confident Ghana can progress to the next round despite facing the defending champions Nigeria at this early stage.

According to her, she prefers to play 2018 AWCON champions than Cameroon.

“Our game against Nigeria is very difficult and we need to start preparations very early. I would prefer to play Nigeria than Cameroon. The Cameroonians are very tough and are bullies and we struggle to compete with them but for Nigeria, our football and theirs are quite similar”, she told Happy FM.

The new format for the qualifiers has come under criticism from the media and football fans because it could see some of the big teams miss out on the tournament.

Morocco will host the next edition of the Africa Women's Cup of Nations in 2022.
