Egypt assistant coach Tito Garcia believes winning the hosting rights to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations will boost their chances claiming a record-extending eighth continental title.

The north African country got the nod to replace Cameroon on Tuesday after a CAF Executive Committee poll in Dakar.

The Pharaohs were losing finalists at the last tournament in Gabon to Cameroon and have been handed a perfect opportunity the etch their name in the history books.

"Now we have a bigger responsibility. Surely, hosting the African Cup boosts our chances to win the title," Garcia told Sada El-Balad TV channel late Tuesday.

"Also we will be motivated to win the title and please our fans at home, despite the high level of other African teams."

Egypt- coached by Javier Aguirre-have qualified for the tournament despite lying second in Group of the qualifiers behind Tunisia.
