Aduana FC have expressed disappointment over the exclusion of their players from the Black Stars' preliminary squad despite their impressive performance in the Ghana Premier League.

The team's communications director, Evans Oppong, pointed out that Aduana are currently leading the league table with 27 points from 15 matches and their striker, Isaac Mintah, is the top scorer with nine goals.

Oppong questioned why none of their players were selected by coach Chris Hughton, who instead chose eleven players from other local clubs, including five from Medeama.

Hughton's 55-man provisional squad featured as many as 11 players, with Medeama dominating with five players including striker Jonathan Sowah and Hamidu Fatawu who have both featured for the Black Stars. Also in the squad is Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey.

"We demand explanation from Chris Hughton for not naming any of our players in his provisional squad. We have won more matches than any club in Ghana. We have more goals than any club," Oppong said.

The squad will be reduced to final 27 which will represent Ghana at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, starting on January 13, 2024, to end on February 11.
