Black Stars had their first training session in Abidjan on Wednesday evening, following their arrival from Kumasi earlier in the day.

This training session was a vital component of their preparation for the impending 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which commences on Saturday, January 13, 2024.

Under the guidance of Coach Chris Hughton, the team enthusiastically participated in various drills during the training session, which lasted a little over an hour. Their spirited demeanour was palpable as they readied themselves for the challenges ahead.

Ghana's opening game is slated for Sunday, January 14, versus Cape Verde. Subsequently, they will lock horns with Egypt and Mozambique in the remaining Group B fixtures, scheduled for Thursday, January 18, and Monday, January 22.

Black Stars will be hoping to make a strong start to their campaign against Cape Verde, who are making their fourth appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana's next game is against Egypt, who are led by Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah. The Pharaohs have a rich history in the Africa Cup of Nations, having won the tournament a record seven times, and they will be eager to add another title to their collection. The match between Ghana and Egypt is expected to be a thrilling encounter, with both teams boasting some of the best players on the continent.

The Black Stars will then round off their group stage fixtures against Mozambique, who are making their third appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations. The Mambas have a relatively young squad, but they have shown promise in recent years, and they will be looking to cause an upset against one of the more established teams in the tournament.

Overall, Ghana's group stage fixtures offer an exciting blend of youth and experience, with some of the biggest names in African football set to take centre stage. The Black Stars will be eager to make a strong impression in front of their fans, and they will be hopeful of winning the tournament for the first time since 1982.
