AFE president Aganzo: The football players are clear that we all have to help

The Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) president David Aganzo has stressed that the players are willing to accept salary cuts to help their clubs survive the ongoing health crisis.

LaLiga Santander has been suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak and the teams have already lost millions of euros in revenue.

"LaLiga sent us the information [about the losses], but we do not have the detailed information for each club," Aganzo told MARCA, who have already revealed the estimated figures.

"Each club is very different, they have their accounting and their ways of coping with the crisis as a company.

"What I would like to make clear is that the players acknowledge very clearly that the situation is what it is, that for us health comes first and here we have to go hand in hand with the Government to guarantee that there are no more infections.

"The football players are aware of how the country is and that we are all going to have to lend a hand.

"We will do everything we can do to help. We are the first who will try to help."

Aganzo went on to point out that every club will react differently to the ongoing crisis, depending on the agreements between players and boards.

"We do not have the information on how each team is managed," Aganzo added.

"For example, some will file an ERTE and others, like Getafe, will not.

"We understand all the circumstances as people and athletes.

"The agreements depend, individually, on the players with their clubs.

"We are trying to make them in a compact way with LaLiga, harming everyone as little as possible, and we hope that agreements will be reached as soon as possible."
