Ghana defender Harrison Afful’s goal has claimed this year’s Africa Champions League for Tunisian side Esperance as they beat Wydad Casablanca 1-0 to win Africa's biggest club title.

The 25-year-old left-back’s 22nd minute strike on Saturday evening was all that was required as the Tunisian club triumphed 1-0 on aggregate after playing out a 0-0 game in the first leg with Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca.

Afful's strike came in the 21st minute of the game - the Ghanaian broke down the right hand side, cut infield and fired a powerful shot past Wydad's young keeper Yassine Bounou.

The Ghana international thus helps his club bury last season’s continental final heartache where they were blown away by DR Congo’s TP Mazembe in a staggering 6-1 aggregate scoreline.

Esperance claims the prize money of $1.5 million and will represent Africa at the Club World Cup in Japan which takes place next month.
