Rosenborg midfielder Anthony Annan will be staying at the club until the January transfer window after the midfielder was unable to seal a move away from the club.

The representative for Annan Lars Petter-Foddahl revealed that his client has been in talks with a number of clubs, including Manchester United, however Annan will now wait until the January transfer window.

The Ghanaian has been touted as the perfect replacement for crocked England international Owen Hargreaves, who looks unlikley to be picked in Sir Alex Ferguson's 25-man Premier League squad.

Petter-Foddahl said: “There have been a number of enquiries from Premier League clubs, but at the moment it looks as though he will stay at Rosenborg. We will now wait until January.”

Annan has been linked with a host of top clubs in Europe, most notably Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and French Ligue 1 side Lyon, and although his agent has remained tight lipped on speculation, a move to Manchester United has been mooted on a

number of occasions.

The combative midfielder impressed at the World Cup for Ghana helping his country to a Quarter Final against Uruguay acting as a catalyst for increased speculation regarding his future.

The 23-year-old midfielder is currently at Norwegian club Rosenborg, having moved there in 2008 after a failed trial at Blackburn Rovers under then manager Paul Ince.

Rosenborg subsequently paid £1.25 million to sign the young Ghanaian from IK Start, beating late interest from Arsene Wenger.
