Algeria boost squad with four Europe-based players for Ghana U20 clash

The national U-20 team of Algeria has been boosted by four Europe based player ahead of the Africa Youth Championship qualifiers against Ghana on Friday. 

Olympique Marseille's midfielder Wassim Awachriyeh, left-back defender Malik Osefane, La Havre striker Radeef and Abdelmalek Amara of Standard Liege have been called up.

The young "Desert Warriors" are poised on reaching the final round of qualifiers by eliminating the West Africans.

However, Mohamed Belkheir who plays for Inter Milan was not allowed to join the team by his club.

The Greens reached this stage after beating fellow North Africans Tunisia to set up the clash with the former World Champions.

Meanwhile Ghana left Accra on Tuesday night after Coach Jimmy Cobblah lised an 18 man squad which includes former Black Starlets goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad and winger Sulley Ibrahim.

The winner of the two legged affair will progress to the final round of qualifiers to face the winner of the game between Gambia and Benin.

The Africa Youth Championship 2019 will be held in Niger.
