Allegri or Conte could replace Mourinho at Chelsea

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri and Italy boss Antonio Conte are among the front runners to take the vacant hot seat at English champions Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho was sacked this week after a disappointing start to the club’s Premier League campaign and it could well be the case that the former Inter boss will be replaced by an Italian.

According to Calciomercato.com, Allegri and Conte are both among the favourites to join Chelsea at the end of the season.

Allegri replaced Conte at the Bianconeri at the start of last season and went on to claim the Serie A and Coppa Italia double in his first campaign with the club.

Conte meanwhile has taken charge of the Italian national team and guided the Azzurri to a place at Euro 2016 in France.

Should either Conte and Allegri be appointed as manager of Chelsea, it would not be the first time an Italian has taken charge of the West London outfit.

Both Gianluca Vialli and Roberto Di Matteo have been in the hot seat at the Blues with the latter winning the Champions League title for the first time in the club’s history in 2012.
