Ancelotti admits Chelsea weaker without Essien

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti says they stand a better chance of winning the elusive Champions League title with fit-again Michael Essien in the side. The Blues struggled to make an impact in European as the Ghanaian midfielder was injured for most parts of last season. Chelsea have been transformed this season with Essien playing a key role as he has recovered from the serious knee injury. The return of Essien from the setback, combined with an in-form Drogba channelling his aggression, makes Chelsea a potent force. Ancelotti said: "I'm sure with Essien and Drogba fit this year we can do better compared to last year in the Champions League. "We did well last year at this time, too. "We were top and won our first three Champions League games. After that we had some problems because we had some injuries."
