Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan has revealed players sometimes feel threatened with the appointment of a new coach.
The Ghana FA on Monday appointed Akwasi Appiah as a substantive replacement for Goran Stevanovic who was sacked following the Black Stars inability to win the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
And though the ex Black Stars captain has already had words of support from key players of the team thrown behind him, Annan says players usually at this point when a change is made feel anxious to prove themselves to the new boss.
“When there is a change of coach we as players sometime feel our style of play might not fit into the new coach’s plans,†he told Cape Coast-based Live FM.
“It will therefore take some time for the new coach to get a fair idea of his team and then can settle on his choice of players.â€
Appiah gets the opportunity to meet his players for the first time as head coach of the side in June when the team converges for crucial 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
