Arsenal star Thomas Partey expected to make injury return against Newcastle

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey is expected to be part of Arsenal's squad for the FA Cup third-round clash against Newcastle United on Saturday.

The Black Stars assistant captain has not featured for Arsenal since early last month, after picking up a muscular problem during a 2-0 derby defeat at the hands of Tottenham.

However, he is now back in full training and looks set to be in contention to return to competitive action this weekend.

"Thomas is now back in full training with the squad after recovering from an injury to his left thigh," Arsenal said on Friday.

"Thomas will continue to work hard to establish match fitness after being out of action for a month. He will be assessed regarding his availability ahead of Saturday’s match."

The 27-year-old has made just six appearances for the Gunners since signing from Atletico Madrid on 2020 summer transfer deadline day.
