Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has cautioned his defence to be extra careful with Sunderland’s newly acquired Ghanaian center-forward Asamoah Gyan.

Gyan scored a classic goal on his debut for Sunderland after coming on as a second-half substitute for Danny Welbeck in their one-all draw with Wigan Athletics at the DW Stadium.

Sunderland host Wenger’s Arsenal at the Stadium of Light in Saturday’s early kickoff and the Frenchman told Arsenal.com the Ghanaian could help the Black Cats repeat the fate suffered last season.

“I looked at him especially during the World Cup,” said Wenger.

I didn't know him too well. He had spells at Rennes last year where he didn't play and other periods where he was absolutely outstanding.”

“When I saw him at the World Cup I found him extremely interesting and a good player but at the time we already had our strikers so I was not looking for him."
