AS Roma teenager Felix Afena-Gyan has reportedly turned down a request to play for Ghana's Black Stars, multiple media reports have claimed in the West African nation.

The talented 18-year-old has seen a rapid rise  after being drafted into the AS Roma senior side.

Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac included the youngster in his squad for the crucial 2022 Africa World Cup qualifying matches against Ethiopia and South Africa.

However, handlers of the teenager have turned down the chance to represent the four-time African champions at the international level.

They claim the teenager will need more time to mature and want him to focus on his development under Jose Mourinho.

He will thus not honour the invitation handed to him by the Serbian.

The Black Stars opened camp in Accra on Monday to begin preparations for the showdown against Ethiopia and South Africa.

The West African giants will travel to South Africa to battle Ethiopia and host South Africa at the Cape Coast Stadium in the final qualifying match to determine qualification to the final playoffs.
