Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan feels vindicated by the growing number of world stars who are joining the Chinese Super League.

The decision of the 30-year-old to join Shanghai SIPG courted controversy in Ghana with critics claiming he had lost the plot.

But over the course of the past couple of months Jackson Martinez, Ramires and Alex Teixeira have all moved to the Chinese Super League for a combined total of £90million.

And the Ghana super star has revealed he feels vindicated for his decision to join the fastest-growing league in the world.

“I said it before that I might bring exposure to that league, I went to the UAE, it was the same, lots of talks and criticisms when I moved there,” he told Joy Sports

“But as I always say the top leagues started from somewhere and that is the same way the Chinese league is always picking up.

“Lots of players are coming in and I think next year it will be more and that we should expect more surprises next year but I believe the league in China is really getting better.”

The former Al Ain attacker missed his country's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations double-header against Mozambique last week.
