Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum pleads with fans to understand player disciplinary measures

Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum has asked fans to appreciate the importance of maintaining player discipline within the team.

This comes amid growing dissatisfaction among fans regarding alleged breaches in squad conduct.

Speaking to the press, Ogum acknowledged the frustration surrounding the team's inconsistent performance in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League but stressed that strict rules must be enforced to ensure success.

He explained that player behaviour, both on and off the field, has come under increased scrutiny, leading to directives from management to implement stricter guidelines.

"I will plead due to the lifestyle and what our noble supporters have posted on social media for us to see we as management Manhyia has directed us to put some rules in place. Rules like the time the players will sleep when you hear this please don't go and say that they are not children why treat them this way," he said.

"Because I know that this can happen you will say that these are professional players we have given them a lot of opportunities and treated them as professional players but you brought the evidence so if we sit down and watch then we ourselves, we don't deserve to be at where we are," he added.

Kotoko are set to face Samartex in their upcoming league fixture. With a renewed focus on discipline and teamwork, the Porcupine Warriors look to bounce back from recent setbacks and reclaim their position as one of Ghana's top clubs.
