Asante Kotoko fans welcome home ban – reports
Kotoko fans are reported to be happy with the home ban

Kotoko supporters are sensationally reported to be happy with the temporal ban of their home ground.

The club’s home ground, Baba Yara stadium has been shut temporarily by the Ghana FA following crowd trouble during a Premier League game against Medeama on May 8.

Irate supporters attacked the match officials after the goalless draw in an episode which has been hugely condemned.

The FA has moved swiftly to close the stadium temporarily pending the final determination of the matter by the country’s disciplinary committee.

But fans of the club are reported to be thrilled with the decision as they see it as a good omen to defend their Premier League crown.

The Porcupine Warriors have struggled to pick maximum points at the Baba Yara stadium which has seen them draw as many as six matches so far this season.

They feel playing the match away from home will cool the pressure on the players to give their all as the race for the Premier League crown reaches home stretch.

Kotoko’s last away fixture saw them beat Berekum Arsenal 3-0 at the Golden City Park.

Kotoko could finally be hit with an eight-match ban after Dwarfs were handed similar punishment after fans beat up referee Patrick Kyeremanteng.

They will honour this weekend's home game against Aduana Stars at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
