Australia are set to be without Scott Chipperfield, Harry Kewell and Mark Schwarzer for Monday's 2010 World Cup warm-up match against New Zealand at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Schwarzer injured his thumb during this week's training camp in Melbourne , and while it is not to expected to threaten his World Cup prospects, coach Pim Verbeek is unlikely to risk the Fulham goalkeeper in a friendly match.

Schwarzer, 37, reportedly took little part in a training session on Saturday and Reading 's Adam Federici is set to come in for his senior debut.

David Carney will get the chance to push his World Cup credentials with veteran defender Chipperfield to be rested after a busy finish to his club season with Swiss side Basle .

Carney is considered the nominated back-up for Chipperfield, but he needs game time to show Verbeek what form he is in after only a handful of appearances for club side FC Twente.

Kewell was never considered for Monday's match as he bids to be fit for the World Cup after undergoing groin surgery earlier this year and only playing a few minutes for club side Galatasaray since.
