Former Ghana captain CK Akunnor says Chelseaââ¬â¢s wobbly form is one of the reasons why Baba Abdul Rahman is not getting regular playing time at the club.
The 21-year-old has made just two Premier League appearances for the Blues despite arriving as an expensive buy from German club Augsburg in the summer.
Rahman who is a full-fledged international with Ghana continues to struggle for first team opportunities as he has now been reduced to a bench-warmer at Stamford Bridge.
But CK Akunnor who is now the coach of Baba Rahmanââ¬â¢s youth club Dreams FC admits the shabby form of Chelsea makes it difficult for under-pressure Jose Mourinho to pick the left-back.
ââ¬ÅChelsea are suffering as at now and probably donââ¬â¢t want to take any risks by playing him,â⬠he told GHANAsoccernet.com.
ââ¬ÅI am sure when things stabilize at the club his chance will eventually come.ââ¬
Chelsea have won just once of their last eight matches in all competitions and are currently 15thà with 11 points from 11 games in the Premier League.
