Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has stated that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is like a father to him.

Lewandowski enjoyed a very successful relationship with Klopp during their time together at Borussia Dortmund and the current Liverpool manager certainly has had a huge role to play in turning the Polish international into the star that he is today.

Lewandowski is indebted to Klopp's contribution and has revealed that the 48-year-old has a father-like role with all the players who he coaches.

"You could see when that final goal went in how emotional he is," he told the Daily Mail.

"I've noticed how much the Liverpool players love to work with him. I've seen one or two games and the reaction shows they are all united.

"He always stood up for his team and he's a bit like a father for the players.

"Also, for the Liverpool fans, when they see they've got a coach who gives his all they'll back him. Klopp is a very good coach. He suits English football."
