Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richmond Ayi says his teammate Benjamin Afutu was the best player in the suspended 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.

The Premier League has been on hold since March 15 following a ban on all public gatherings, including sporting and religious events due to the coronavirus crisis.

Players such as Aduana Stars striker Yahaya Mohammed and Inter Allies' Victorien Adebayor were the toast of advocates of the top-flight league due to their incessant goalscoring exploits.

But Ayi believes his teammate was miles ahead of every player in the league.

"Benjamin Afutu is the player that should be awarded if the league is to be restarted for a new season looking at his contribution for us (Hearts of Oak), he was all over before the league was halted," Ayi told Wontumi FM.

"Although Yahaya, Victorien and some crop of players were scoring BUT for a striker to score it must come from the back before it can reach to them."
