Berekum Chelsea deny Zamalek claims over Champions League venue switch

Berekum Chelsea have rubbished claims by Zamalek that an agreement has been reached to play their CAF Champions League match in Kumasi.

The 2011 Ghana Premier League champions insist that they will play all of their Group B matches at the Golden City Park in Berekum.

A Zamalek board member Sbri Seraj announced that the Egyptian ambassador in Ghana had held fruitful talks with Chelsea officials to move the match to the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Egyptian giants have complained about the poor state of the Golden City Park ahead of their July 8 match.

But Berekum Chelsea Chief Executive Obed Nketiah is shocked at the news coming from the camp of their Group opponents.

"As far as I'm concerned, we are playing all our matches at the Golden City Park here in Berekum," Nketiah told the club's website (www.berekumchelsea.com).

"Facilities at the stadium have improved and approved by CAF. I don't know where the Zamalek board member is coming from.

"I know Zamalek and the other clubs will love it when they visit us in Berekum."

Chelsea were handed a tough draw which comprised TP Mazembe and record winners Al Ahly.
