Berlusconi: AC Milan can make Champions League

Published on: 22 February 2016

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi believes his club has the quality to make a late charge and secure a Champions League position.

Currently unbeaten in nine matches, the Rossoneri face Napoli on Monday evening who come off the back of two successive losses for the first time this season, and the president acknowledged the significant task ahead.

“It will be a difficult match for Milan,” he told ‘Pezzi da 90’ on the Umbrian Radio Onda Libera.

“Napoli has a lot of motivation following consecutive defeats away where they have played well but have been unlucky.

“They now play in front of the extraordinary fans at the San Paolo and that will push them further.”

Despite the challenge ahead, the 79-year-old showed faith in his team and their abilities to not only compete on Monday but on their chances of claiming a Champions League position.

“I had lunch with the team in Milan on Saturday and found them to be very motivated,” he continued.

“I think it is possible [for the Champions League] with the current squad.

“But only if we win from now until the end of the season.

“Who will win the title? Juve. They have great balance, a great defense and consistent results.”
